Used Ultrasound Equipment

Finance used ultrasound equipment for clinics, imaging centers, and mobile providers. We evaluate condition, not just age. New and used programs available.

Quote My System

Used ultrasound equipment finances every day. The idea that only new equipment qualifies is a myth that benefits equipment manufacturers, not the practices buying systems. A GE Logiq E9 purchased from a clinic that upgraded to an E10, a Philips EPIQ 7 coming off a five-year lease at a hospital system, a Sonosite Edge II that a mobile imaging service is retiring in favor of a wireless probe setup, all of these can be acquired on reasonable financing terms when the asset has the right condition profile. Our program evaluates used ultrasound equipment based on what matters: condition, probe integrity, manufacturer support status, and the practice's financial profile.

Our minimum transaction is $50,000. Most cart-based ultrasound systems from major manufacturers purchased with a compatible probe, plus accessories or a service agreement, clear that threshold even in the used market. Individual portable and handheld systems may require bundling to reach our floor, which practices typically accomplish by purchasing multiple units or including extended service contracts on the same invoice.

Questions About Used Ultrasound Equipment

Review the common timing, documentation, and equipment questions before sending the quote.

Can a private-party used ultrasound purchase be financed, not through a dealer?

Private-party transactions can be financed. We need a signed bill of sale documenting the system's make, model, serial number, software version, and probe list, plus the agreed purchase price. Condition documentation from the selling party, including any service records, strengthens the application. Private-party transactions take slightly more underwriting work than dealer sales but are a routine part of our used equipment program.

Does financing a 7-year-old system make financial sense if the loan is for 48 months?

Whether a 7-year-old system on a 48-month term makes financial sense depends on manufacturer parts availability, the system's service history, and your practice's upgrade cycle. Some manufacturers support platforms well past 7 years. If the system has a good service record and parts availability from the manufacturer or an ISO is confirmed, a 48-month term is not unreasonable. If parts are becoming scarce, a shorter 24 to 36 month term reduces the risk of being in a loan on equipment you can no longer service.

The system we want to buy has no service records. Can it still be financed?

Financing without service records is possible but more difficult. We may require a higher down payment, a shorter term, or a pre-purchase inspection report from an independent biomedical engineer before proceeding. A system with no documentation represents more collateral uncertainty than one with a clean service history, and the terms reflect that uncertainty.

We paid cash for a used ultrasound system six months ago. Can we refinance it now?

Sale-leaseback or refinancing of recently purchased equipment is possible in some cases. The equipment needs to have a documented purchase price and current market value that supports the loan amount. A system purchased six months ago at a fair market price, with documentation of the original transaction, can often be refinanced, though the loan-to-value ratio may be conservative relative to the original purchase price depending on the system's depreciation in those six months.

Are there brands of used ultrasound that are harder to finance than others?

Systems from major manufacturers with active service networks, GE, Philips, Siemens, Canon, Mindray, and Sonosite, are the most straightforward to finance because parts availability and service support are more certain. Systems from discontinued manufacturers or brands with thin service networks in the U.S. may face more conservative terms or require additional documentation. The more established the manufacturer's service infrastructure, the cleaner the collateral position.
